Glad to hear you will be growing again next year . Lots of things can go wrong . Ed and many had good luck this year including myself .
We could all do better and use better soil preporation ( I know I'll soil test ) next year and may not end up with knee high baccy . Just the way it goes but most times you will have some sort of crop .
Perhaps not as good as we would like but still a crop . Anyhow you should be very proud of that alone . I fear many that tried this year will not be back . Some will and some will not .
Ed
I'll get that sample send off soon . Want to send mine at the same time . I'm anchious to see what our coop has to say your dirt needs to grow baccy . Should be interesting to see if they ask where in my county is their volcanic soil lol

Ed, I didn’t do anything special to my ground either, ha… probably pretty much a main issue with my pretend tobacco plants. But next time I’m definitely tilling further down than a few inches - That’s right, I am a professional! Hey, when I read tobacco will grow just about anywhere, I figured, hey man, THIS is just about anywhere! Funny, it’s that 90 and 100-degree weather that convinced me that I had done enough with the ol’ pick and shovel. Hang in there Ed & hang all that tobacco… you got enough to last forever!
Lonnie, Heck yeah next year! Anyways, those who haven’t seen tobacco growing before are impressed so all is not lost… well not all but gloating, haha. Actually, I’m very happy with my little crop… I mean, things can always be worse or better, and I should have enough home grown tax-free smoke to last me a very, very long time, and that’s all I wanted. The next step: get a decent smoke from all that stuff that I can be proud of and not be ashamed of sharing with friends.

Did you look up your strain and see how many field days it needs . I need to do that myself . I find info like that then try to find again and can't lol
I'm wanting to think 100 and up to 120 days in field for certain strains is what it said . I do think the 14L8 was ready in 80 or 90 days it's very early maturing .
Btw I figured they both smoked with the big grins lol I guess they just happy you will have enough .
Ric
Your crop looked good . Baccy does need plowed deep and then tilled good through the year . Plus good to hear you ended up with smoke .

If everybody smoked there could be a tobbaco shortage and high prices!

Ed, i got some Virginia pods for you also. If you like I can send some of this Walker broadleaf...my research says it is a Virginia variety tobacco....definitely smokeable! I am looking for some Turkish myself as mix...just because that is what everyone says to do. I should have your addy....I will get it out to you...no hurry as I have been busy doing other things for awhile. Schedule should slow down in a week or so. Ohio ol_school
